Castaway Island Playground
The Equipment
Imagine yourself shipwrecked on a deserted island. In order to survive, you have to befriend a giant seahorse, make a walkway over the water with coconuts, climb over luggage to reach your ship, discover hiding places in steerage and use the ship’s tunnel or the safety net if you need to abandon ship. All the while your ultimate goal is to protect your treasure. In addition to the giant ship, there is a small toddler ship with steering wheel, sound maker and two small slides. Feel free to lounge on a bench outfitted as a giant leaf or feel the breeze on the swing set (there are two baby and two regular swings).
The Scene
Castaway Island is located at Tucker Road Community Center Park. The park consists of a playground, basketball and tennis courts, baseball fields, ice rink, community center, picnic area and open space. During our visit, my family saw children riding bikes, people rollerblading and a lot of excitement at the Castaway Island playground.
