Falls Road Local Park
The Equipment
The playground has a rubber surface that is in excellent condition. The area is not fenced, but is set back from the parking lot. The first structure resembles a log cabin and contains a maze, a typical tic-tac-toe board and an animal version. There is also a spiral and double slide. The playground also has a zip line, steel rings, monkey bars, suspension bridge and tire swing.
The second structure has a seated whale rocker, gear board and a castle theme, but it’s merely a series of ramps. The third structure is a pirate ship complete with sail, whales, another whale rocker and a few tic-tac-toe boards. The swing set was popular with regular and special needs swings available.
The Scene
While the park already has three playgrounds, there are talks in the works to add an additional play space. The park is meant to be accessible to children of all abilities. However, it pales in comparison to Clemyjontri Park in Virginia. There is a walking trail, soccer field, baseball fields, picnic pavilion, separate picnic area and plenty of parking.
