Florida Avenue Park
The Equipment
While not a big park, the equipment is decent. I was most impressed with the number of swings available. There are two baby swings, five regular swings and a special needs swing. The toddler section has one play structure with instruments such as bells and drums, talking tubes, a steering wheel, floating lop stumps and one slide. For older children, there are cargo net webs, hoops and an ascending balance beam and a spinning sphere. I think it would be nice if they had room to add a slide for the big kids.
The Scene
I have often driven past the busy section of Florida Avenue and noticed a gated playground. I finally decided it was time to find out what the place was like as all I could see were bright orange hues. The park features a playground, 1/10 mile walking loop, basketball court, a few tables, water fountain and turf space for open play. Capital Bikeshare rental is located just outside the park. Street parking is hard to come by. Be careful crossing the street as it’s a busy area.

Separated by ages 2-5 and 6-12.
