Forest Grove Park
The Equipment
Renovated in 2013, this playground features a large structure intended for older kids. It boasts several slides and multiple climbing entry points (rock wall, faux rock mountain, ladders, stairs), and a narrow, bumpy bridge. Also within the wood-chipped playground are a large concrete dragon and a small concrete frog to climb on, a large bouncy raft that’s low to the ground and able to fit several kids, a stationary car, a bouncy snail and bee, wooden squares and rectangles at varying heights to climb on, an umbrella-shaped piece that spins, and two regular, one bucket, and one adaptive swing. A pair of basketball courts sits between the playground and the road, giving a nice buffer from the street.
The Scene
Next to Holy Cross Hospital’s Resource Center and a child care center, the playground doesn’t have its own parking lot but street parking is free in the neighborhood. The playground is also next to Sligo Creek and is a good stopping point for those using the paved trail that runs right by the playground. Four picnic tables are near the play equipment.
Age Recommendation
All ages, but some equipment may be challenging for younger kids.
Restrooms
None, though you could try the hospital resource center building
