George Hellwig Memorial Park
The Equipment
The playground is just past the tennis courts. Yay for a rubber surface! It’s not a huge playground, but it has some nice features like a maze ball game and a hello sign written in six different languages. From a steering wheel to animal tic-tac-toe and instrument section featuring drums, maracas and chimes. A total of four climbing pieces, metal climbing rings and tunnel are present as well as a rock wall and climbing mountain with hidden dinosaur fossil. There are several slides including a double, straight and spiral version. The space is not fenced, but is partially shaded by large umbrellas.
The Scene
The park includes a playground, soccer and baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts and a picnic shelter with grills. During our visit, the playground was empty. We saw the local fire department playing a friendly game of tennis and saw a soccer team practicing on the field. The park is spacious yet peaceful and partially surrounded by the woods. There is parking throughout and ample spaces at the playground.
