The Equipment
The tot lot has four bucket swings, a large sandbox with a three-car train and playhouse, two large plastic dinosaurs, and a small climbing structure. The play area for older children has a very large climbing structure that includes a small rock wall and rope wall and slides. There are other challenging climbing structures available. One unique piece of equipment is a zip-line like structure where children hold onto a handle suspended from an approximately six-foot high horizontal bar and glide across to the end.
The Scene
Hardy Park has a large field, a basketball court, and tennis courts. The playground area consists of two adjacent play areas for different ages separated by a fence. While this works well for keeping little ones separated from big ones it does pose challenges when visiting with siblings of different ages and abilities. Located in a residential neighborhood the playgrounds do not tend to get very crowded.
Age Recommendation
All ages can enjoy the park. The tot lot is good for babies in bucket swings through about four. The remainder of the park is good for about five and up. Some of the climbing equipment is challenging and good for tweens.
