Harry Thomas Sr. Park

The Equipment
The younger set has extraordinary equipment to choose from like a triangular seated swing, bridge, slide, floating steps, stumps, arched rock wall and gear boards.  There is a nice high backed teeter totter that seats four people.  Also there are two bucket swings for babies.  A nice comfort is that the surface is rubber and soft and that the playground is fenced on all sides.
Between the two play areas is a large swing set consisting of three special needs and three regular swings.  The older lot will go loop-de-loop over the swirl structure that you can climb all over (it also makes a great photographic backdrop).  Maneuver through hoops and nets, climb up boulders, whizz down a spiral and wavy slide, and step up on balance boards.
The Scene
Ranked as one of the top 50 playgroundsin the U.S., Harry Thomas Sr. Park was definitely on my family’s list of must dos.  I enjoyed reading the inspiration for the park, which is based on the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio.  Bringing together math, science, architecture, art and nature, the green colored swirly and whimsical designs will delight children and maybe provide some teachable moments.
The park includes a playground, rec center, pool, tennis and basketball courts, football/soccer field, community garden, picnic area and water fountain.  There is ample street parking in the neighborhood.
Age Recommendation
The play areas are fenced and separated by ages 2 to 5 and 6 to 12.
Restrooms
Available in the rec center during business hours.
